Reading the Fish Wrap: The Annual Latke Update

It was about a year ago that Melissa Clark wrote in the New York Times dining section about her yearly latke–er, Hanukkah–party. I found it inspiring indeed, so I’m happy to pull it out of the archives. I had a New Year’s party a year minus two weeks ago that featured hors d’oeuvres-sized latkes with an assortment of toppings. Creme fraiche with caviar and dill or applesauce or scallion cream cheese with smoked salmon. They were a huge hit, especially with me, but the memory had faded (thanks to all that champagne!). Luckily it’s that time again, and Clark is back in the Times with a recipe for apple-potato latkes served with cinnamon sour cream. A welcomed innovation and reminder!
